Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Two separate road accidents shook Howrah’s Liluah area on Saturday night, leaving two men dead and triggering public outrage. In Belgachia Kazipara, a pedestrian was fatally hit by a lorry, leading to high tension in the area. The angry crowd not only beat up the lorry driver but also turned their fury towards the police team that arrived to retrieve the body.
Amid the chaos, the situation escalated further when residents of Kazipara blocked the road, bringing traffic to a standstill along Banaras Road. The roadblock lasted for hours and resulted in a massive traffic jam, disrupting movement in the surrounding areas.
In a separate but similarly tragic incident in the Chamdaail area of Howrah, another person was killed after being struck by a lorry. While this accident did not spark violence, the second death within hours left locals deeply distressed.
Authorities later managed to bring the situation under control and removed the roadblock. Investigations into both accidents are underway, and efforts are being made to prevent such recurring incidents in the densely populated zones of Howrah.
